Nhà văn Yung Krall, tác giả Thousand Tears Falling, đã dựa vào những tài liệu của quốc tế, liệt kê và sơ kết ra con số sau:

Từ 1975 đến 1987 cộng Sản VN đã :

        _ Đày đi tù cải tạo: 1,040,000 . 

        _ Chết trong tù cải tạo: 95,000. 

        _ CS tử hình hơn 100,000.

        _ Đày ải hơn 100.000 người đi Vùng KINH TẾ MỚI 

        _ Vượt biên chết trên biển: 500,000.

        _ Con số người Việt chết vì Cộng Sản sau khi "hòa bình" lập lại gần 750.000 người !!

        _ Con số đang bị tù đầy, hành hạ bằng đủ mọi cách, bán ra nước ngoài làm đĩ điếm, làm nô lệ... chưa thể tổng kết chính sác.

        Một hậu chiến thống nhất đầy dẫy tù đày và chết chóc dù tiếng súng không còn.<!>

Fyi, the following are the statistics gathered & published in the book "Thousand years falling", (author: Yung Krall) after the Fall of Saigon in April 1975.

Yung Krall was born in Vietnam during the French-Indochina war.  During the Vietnam War (1960-1975), her mother stayed in South Vietnam while her father joined the Communist cause in the North with the NLF (National Liberation Front), where he eventually became Hanoi's ambassador to the U.S.S.R. Yung was married to John Krall, a U.S. Navy pilot. After the Fall of Saigon in April 1975, she worked with the CIA and FBI to help bring down a communist Vietnamese subgroup attempting to recruit members of the U.S. and abroad in Europe.

Yung Krall in "Thousand Tears Falling", wrote down the following statistics, based on the data obtained from various international sources in the aftermath of the Vietnam War.

From 1975 to 1987, under Vietnamese Communist Regime, there are victims as follows:

       _  Sent to "Re-education camps": 1,040,000  

       _  Number of deaths in the "Re-education camps" : 95,000

       _  Number of executions: 100,000

       _  Number of people forced to move to New Economic Zones: 100,000++

       _  Number of deaths, while fleeing Vietnam: 500,000, most of them"boat people"

       _  Estimated total of deaths = 750,000

       _  In addition, a large number of people are also victims in the categories: prisoners of conscience, human rights defenders, religious leaders, protesters, land expropriation peasants, regular citizens : they were and continued to be beaten brutally, tortured, sentenced to years in prison. Moreover, poor people in rural areas are sent abroad to labor, prostitute directly or indirectly (they are women and children from different ages) to Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and other countries of the Pacific, even Russia, Africa, Red China. For these victims, no precise statistics are currently available.
