When one nurtures the inner moral and spiritual clarity, creativity and insight transcend ordinary limits — this is the “thiên tài,” the divine or transcendent genius.
“Nuôi trí sinh nhân tài” — Cultivate intellect, and you produce talent. → The trí (intellect, reasoning) creates the “nhân tài,” the capable, intelligent individuals who serve society through skill and knowledge. It’s valuable, but still secondary — intellect without heart can become cold or utilitarian.
“Nuôi thân nô tài” — Cultivate the body, and you breed servitude. → The thân (physical body, material comfort) alone leads to dependence and submission — “nô tài,” the servant or slave. When one’s focus is purely bodily or material, the spirit becomes subordinate to survival and pleasure.
It’s a call to spiritual sovereignty — that true greatness arises from inner moral clarity, not from intellect or material strength alone. Interestingly, this triadic structure mirrors his broader metaphysical system: Tâm–Trí–Thân corresponds to Thiên–Nhân–Địa (Heaven–Human–Earth), showing how the human being bridges the cosmic order.
